Job Description
About the Role
Successful candidate should possess strong fundamental background in designing, implementing and testing telescopes, telescope enclosures, positioning systems and servo drives as they will be working on designing large scale metallic and composite structures, servo-drive systems and gearboxes, precision positioners and encoders and electro-opto-mechanical assemblies.
Duties will include:
Structural design and analysis of lasers, optical mounts, telescopes and telescope enclosures;
Implement retrofits and redesign sub-systems and components for existing EOS telescopes;
Perform assembly, integration, verification and validation testing of designed components and assemblies; and
Liaise with the suppliers and sub- contractors for components to meet tight time frames.

About You
We are looking for someone who can collaborate in a highly-paced environment and is a problem solver with attention to detail. The one who is self-motivated and a forward thinker. A person should be able to demonstrate pragmatism and sound judgement and meet tight deadlines.
Requirements for the role:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as mechanical design engineer.
Ability to solve complex engineering problems in collaboration with multiple disciplines, under minimal or no supervision
Experience with ISO9001 quality assurance systems
Experience in a systems engineering framework
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.
