Job Description
Position Overview:
As a Technical Writer you will be part of the Technical Publications team developing and updating Technical Publication products including Operator and Maintenance Publications to support our customers.
This role offers the opportunity for growth as a technical writer with experience to not only write but also grow your skills within the team and take part in peer and editorial reviews, as well as working with the wider team of engineers to analyse and write new procedures for new equipment.
Primary Duties:
Working within the publication team to draft, develop and update technical publication manuals for Weapon Systems Armaments
Create and develop illustrated parts catalogue
Working with the wider team of engineers to draft and develop new procedures for technical publications
Review technical documentation for accuracy
Review Bill of Material (BOM) to develop Technical Publications (Technical Equipment Manuals & Special Publications).
Review sub-contractor, OEM / Supplier data for accuracy, safety, and consistence
Desired Skills and Experience
To be considered, applicants will ideally possess the following skills:
Experience using the R4i suite of software to develop Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs). Including Operator, Maintenance and Illustrated Parts Catalogues
Experience producing publications to an S1000D standard
Experience in the use of MS Office suite to produce technical publications, in particular MS Word and Adobe Acrobat
Knowledge of ILS and Technical publication procedures
Knowledge of Engineering product lifecycle and change management
Excellent writing skills with strong attention to detail
Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a remotely based team
Ability to understand and represent complex information in an easily digestible format.
Experience
Demonstrated engineering support and technical writing experience in the defence Industry
Trade or Technician qualifications in mechanical/Electrical/Electronic systems
Minimum 2 years in similar role.
