Job Description
The Mechanical Engineering Lead (Bespoke) is responsible for driving the capability and performance of the mechanical engineering team to support EOS’ strategic objectives. This role leads the development of bespoke components for Remote Weapon Stations, ensuring solutions are tailored to diverse customer requirements and delivered within project timelines. It provides technical oversight, risk assessment, and quality assurance across mechanical design activities, aligned with standards set by the Chief Engineer. The position also mentors engineering staff, fosters professional growth, and strengthens EOS’ future engineering capability. A strong understanding of mechanical design, defence standards, and advanced engineering tools is essential for success in this role.
Desired Skills and Experience
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor staff
Identify and assess design risks, authorised as the Product Risk Acceptor for LOW risks.
Ensure that design engineering work is done to defined quality standards, including effective information and configuration management.
Develop and review engineering work with standards agreed with Chief Engineer.
Experience:
Over 10 years’ experience within mechanical design or in similar role
Over 3 years’ experience leading teams and/or managing stakeholders.
Familiarity with Defence regulatory frameworks and associated processes is desirable.
Extensive knowledge of design, Australian Standards, ASME codes.
Experience in design tools like 3D modelling, Ansys will be added advantage
Eligible for charted status and registration in the ACT.
