Job Description
Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced laser systems for space applications.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to conduct research and analysis aimed at enhancing laser technologies.
Drive innovation by proposing and implementing improvements to existing laser systems.
Provide technical expertise in the field of laser engineering, optics, and physics to support project objectives.
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Stay abreast of industry developments and emerging technologies to inform decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
A degree in Physics, Engineering or a related field with a focus on laser technology.
Proven experience in the design and development of laser systems for scientific or industrial applications.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using relevant software tools for simulation and modelling.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen interest in advancing laser technology within the context of space exploration.
Desired Skills and Experience
Ideal candidate:
Experience in Class 4 laser would be highly desirable (HEL and HPL)
Prior experience in end-to-end design and implementation would be highly regarded
Intermediate level experience in similar role
Canberra based or willing to relocate to Canberra (ACT)
Australian Citizen with NV1 clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
